Hope coming

Circa Theatre in Wellington, my home town, has just released its programme for 2025. Exciting for me because the first play, opening 25^th January, is my full length drama – Hope.

I’m both thrilled and a bit on edge. Hope is my first venture into professional adult theatre. Luckily Lyndee-Jane Rutherford, the Director, has brought together a team of very experienced and talented actors and creatives. They are enthusiastic about the script and I’m sure they’ll do a great job. So do come and see it. Tickets are on sale at Circa Theatre. It runs until February 25^th.

 The story is set a little in the future. It concerns a Ukrainian family –  piano-teacher mother and two adult children. The fourth in the cast is a famous concert pianist who is a former pupil of Irina, the mother.

So there’s music in the play and family laughter and tension. But also political questions too. Something to make you think, I hope.

It will be fascinating for me to sit in on some rehearsals and see how these clever actors and the director interpret what I have written. I’ll keep you posted.
