Hope coming

Circa Theatre in Wellington, my home town, has just released its programme for 2025. Exciting for me because the first play, opening 25th January, is my full length drama – Hope.

I’m both thrilled and a bit on edge. Hope is my first venture into professional adult theatre. Luckily Lyndee-Jane Rutherford, the Director, has brought together a team of very experienced and talented actors and creatives. They are enthusiastic about the script and I’m sure they’ll do a great job. So do come and see it. Tickets are on sale at Circa Theatre. It runs until February 25th.

The story is set a little in the future. It concerns a Ukrainian family –  piano-teacher mother and two adult children. The fourth in the cast is a famous concert pianist who is a former pupil of Irina, the mother.

So there’s music in the play and family laughter and tension. But also political questions too. Something to make you think, I hope.

It will be fascinating for me to sit in on some rehearsals and see how these clever actors and the director interpret what I have written. I’ll keep you posted.
