Part of the deal when you have a new book out, is responding to a flurry of interviews. Lise, the publicist for Bateman, my publisher, is a tiger at arranging these so I’ve been busy answering radio, print and blog requests. Some writers dislike this part of the process of selling books, but I enjoy it. Writing is a solitary job so coming in touch with people who want to know all sorts of things about the book and me and why I wrote it is rather energising.
I had a lovely zoom interview with Judy Bayley – once known as ‘the mother of New Zealand’ for her role reading the news in the early days of television. She now writes articles for the Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ edition) and specialises, I believe, in interviewing people about aging. So I was a suitable target. We could have chatted all day.
Later in the year I’ll be attending Writers Festivals in Mapua, Hawkes Bay, Kāpiti and Queenstown. That will be a treat because I get to meet other writers as well as readers. Perhaps I’ll see some of you at one of these. Do introduce yourself and let me know you read these blogs! I’m not a natural blogger and often think no one is reading these musings of mine!
