I thought Harbouring was going to be my last novel. As retiring broadcaster Kim Hill has said recently said: it’s better to leave before you’re pushed. But it seems the habit of writing is too ingrained in me. New stories keep clamouring to be written.
Now that a new novel is in the third draft stage I am wondering if I should have resisted the urge more rigorously. But then I realise I have always felt this way before I let go and send the manuscript off to a publisher. There will, after all, be at least a year of rewriting, considering new ideas, developing my characters. And of course getting the ending right.
All this is assuming a publisher will accept the manuscript. We’ll see.
Wow! How exciting!!!! Loved Harbouring. My ancestors came over from Wales and settled in Karori, it was like reading my own family history. Super excited to hear there will be more for me to devour…
Thankyou
